Walking with Jesus (Tuesday of Holy Week)

Walking with Jesus (Tuesday of Holy Week)

Title: Walking with Jesus: Lessons from Tuesday of Holy Week

Good morning, everyone! Today, as we gather together in this sacred space, let us reflect on the significance of Tuesday in Holy Week. It's a day filled with lessons that resonate deeply with us, regardless of our age or background. So, let's dive into the Word and uncover the wisdom it holds for us today.

Point 1: God's Call to Service (Isaiah 49:1-6)

Our first reading from Isaiah reminds us of God's call to each of us. Just as the prophet Isaiah was called from before birth, we too are chosen and called for a purpose. The challenge here is to recognize and embrace that calling, understanding that God has a plan for each of us.

Challenge: Take time this week to reflect on your talents and gifts. How can you use them to serve others and fulfill God's purpose for your life?

Point 2: Seeking God's Strength (Psalm 71:1-11)

In Psalm 71, we find comfort in the psalmist's plea for God's protection and strength. In times of trouble and uncertainty, we can turn to God as our refuge and fortress. The challenge for us is to trust in God's faithfulness, even when life's storms rage around us.

Challenge: When faced with challenges this week, instead of relying solely on your own strength, turn to God in prayer and seek His guidance and support.

Point 3: The Wisdom of the Cross (1 Corinthians 1:18-31)

Paul's words to the Corinthians remind us of the paradoxical nature of the cross. In the world's eyes, it may seem foolish, but to those who believe, it is the power and wisdom of God. The challenge here is to embrace the humility and wisdom of the cross in our own lives, trusting in God's plan even when it seems counterintuitive.

Challenge: Reflect on areas of your life where you can let go of pride and embrace humility. How can you live out the wisdom of the cross in your relationships and interactions with others?

Point 4: Walking in the Light (John 12:37-38, 42-50)

In our final reading from John, we see the contrast between those who believe and those who do not. Jesus calls us to walk in the light, but it requires a choice on our part. The challenge for us is to actively choose to follow Jesus, even when the world around us may tempt us to walk in darkness.

Challenge: Consider the influences in your life—are they leading you closer to Jesus or further away? Take steps this week to align your choices and actions with the teachings of Christ, walking confidently in His light.

As we go forth from this place today, may we carry these lessons with us, knowing that God walks beside us every step of the way. Let us live boldly and faithfully, embracing the challenges and opportunities that each day brings, confident in the knowledge that we are loved and called by our Creator. Amen.
